MakSim - (real name Marina Maksimova) is the most popular singer and songwriter in Russia. She has already released three very successful albums, which both reached tops of all official sales charts in the country. She is ranked #17 in top 50 of the richest and most successful Russian stars by Forbes magazine (Russian edition).
Marina was born in Kazan - one of the oldest Russian cities and the capital of Tatarstan Republic. Her first songs became superhits in clubs of Kazan and were heavily played on local radio stations. After finishing high school she left to pursue her music career in Moscow and was signed by Gala Records, one of the leading Russian record companies and the official representative of EMI Music.
MakSim's debut album "Difficult Age" (Trudniy Vozrast) was released in March 2006 and became Platinum. Since then it went Platinum 5 times, having sold more than 1 000 000 copies. This album became the most selling record among all Russian contemporary music releases.
The video for the single "Don't You Know" ("Znaesh li ti") from the debut album became the most played video on the leading Russian national music channel "Muz TV".
In November 2006 Gala Records released a DVD of MakSim's first Moscow concert at a big downtown club. The 3500 seats venue was completely sold out. The DVD immediately became the best seller among the Russian music DVDs.
The second album "My Paradise" ("Moy Ray") was released on November 15th 2007. Within a month it sold 700 000 legal copies, which is an absolute record for the Russian music market.
MakSim has also made some groundbreaking achievements in digital sales. Since the release of her debut album over 1 000 000 ringtones and over 800 000 realtones were officially sold. Compared to all local and international acts on sale in Russia this is an absolute record. For her physical and digital sales MakSim was given a ‘Record of the Year' award - a professional award for music sales achievements.
On March 22nd 2008 MakSim and her band played their largest gig yet at the main Moscow venue - Olimpiyskiy (17 000 seats).
In June 2008 Maksim was awarded with a special prize for physical sales achievements by Billboard magazine.
Years 2008 and 2009 were also rich on professional music awards and prizes given by influential media - "Best Female" (June 2008, July 2009) by national music channel MUZ TV, "Singer of the Year" (October 2008) by fashion magazine Glamour, "Best Female" (December 2009) by MTV Russia, and many others.
In October 2009 the first Russian Disney production ‘The Book of the Masters" was released in cinemas nationwide. The main song of the movie "The Road" was written and performed by MakSim, which was later included in the new album.
In November 2009 the new music service ‘Comes With Music' by Nokia was launched in Russia. MakSim became the official face of the huge advertising campaign on TV, in the press and out-door.
After a short career break, when MakSim gave birth to her daughter, she returned to the studio and recorded her third album ‘Odinochka' (‘I'm Single'), which was released in December 2009. The video for the first single ‘On the Radio Waves' was shot in California in September.
Now MakSim is on the road touring with her live band across Russia and neighboring countries.

February 2008. ‘Best Female' Award on the ‘Zvukovaya Dorozhka' ceremony by the biggest national newspaper ‘Moskvsky Komsomolets'.
February 2008. ‘Brilliant Disc' awarded for the sales of 700k units of the album ‘Moy Ray' by the National Federation of Phonogram Manufacturers. This award was specially established for MakSim's unique sales achievement.
March 2008. Solo gig at the biggest and most prestigious ‘Olimpiyski' arena in Moscow. Artists, who previously performed there are Sting, Alla Pugacheva, Jamiroquai, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Valeria, Bjork, Marilyn Manson, Beyonce, Mylene Farmer, etc.
March 2008. Special edition of the album ‘Moy Ray' released.
May 2008. MakSim made the list of the ‘Most Beautiful People in Moscow' by ‘May Fashion'.
May 2008. DVD ‘Concert in Olimpiysky' released.
